I would like to announce my candidacy for Secretary of the Republican National Committee. My strong political and business experience will enable me to successfully carry out the duties of the office. As a team player and passionate grassroots activist, I will work hard to support our organization and leadership.
I currently serve as the Republican National Committeewoman for Washington, DC. In a citywide race for my position, I was both candidate and campaign manager, personally knocking on 3,000 doors and managing a team of volunteers who knocked on thousands more. I held fundraisers, sent robocalls, dropped mailers, earned endorsements, and was ultimately victorious in a hard-fought election. In addition to my duties as Committeewoman, I serve as the President of the local DC chapter of the League of Republican Women, and I formerly worked on the Hill as press secretary and legislative assistant to then-Congressman Robert Ehrlich (MD).
Earlier this year, I launched CityGOP, a nationwide initiative to advocate for and showcase Republican candidates in cities. Many of you may have read several of the op-eds I authored promoting our party and our city-specific candidates. You may have also read the positive interviews we conducted with candidates and elected officials demonstrating that conservatives can be elected in cities and that conservative policy solutions have a home there, too. (For more information, please see: citygop.org, Twitter: @citygop, Facebook: /GOPcity).
Since joining the Committee, I was honored to have been elected as one of the two Northeast Region members of the Site Selection Committee in 2014. Further, I was pleased to see the passage of two resolutions that I introduced: “Resolution Honoring the Memory and Achievements of Frederick Douglass, Esquire, an Abolitionist and National Leader of the Republican Party” and “Resolution in Support of Parental School Choice Programs and Education Reform.”
In my professional life, I’m principal and co-owner of a successful DC-based real estate investment and development firm. In this role, I am responsible for sourcing, underwriting, structuring, and executing new investment opportunities. Further, I oversee day-to-day operations of the company. My real estate experience includes acquisitions and development of $320 million of investment in urban communities.
I hold an MBA and master of public policy (MPP) from Duke University, where I focused on finance and authored a thesis on urban revitalization. I serve on the Board of Visitors for Duke University's School of Public Policy and as secretary for Duke University’s alumni board in DC.
I look forward to speaking to each of you directly about my candidacy. I'm truly honored to have an opportunity to work with so many talented people and to serve the RNC. Thank you for all you do and for your consideration of my candidacy as Secretary for the RNC.
I look forward to being in touch.
Best regards,
Jill
